Helping French and American Classrooms Connect
my name is Rémi Guyot. I teach English in Saint Laurent du Maroni in French Guiana. I have a class of junior high school students whose dream is to live the American way for a few days and I would like to take them to New Orleans in February 2018. I think this is the perfect destination for my students as they wish to experience life in a big American city but also because of Louisiana’s multicultural heritage.
I am looking for any tips that could help me to organize this trip but what I really need is to find a partnership and to start working on a project that could benefit students from both countries.
I shall, of course, be delighted to give any additional explanations that you may require.
Yours sincerely, M Guyot.
Hi Rémi! Are you still thinking about planning this trip? I would love to help you organize it.
Hello! I am very sorry I haven't answered earlier: I have been in many different places for the past few weeks and it was difficult to go on the internet. I was very excited to get your message and I would like very much to organize a trip to New Orléans but I don't know if it will be possible to do it this year: things take a lot of time in France (to get some Financial aid etc) but I will tell my headmsater about your answer and see if we can fasten things up.
Thank you so much for your answer. See you soon!
I think it would be so cool to host a group of students from la Guyane, whenever you are able to come! Plane tickets are so expensive, so I understand if you need some time to raise money. Let's keep in touch. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org
